Braun Series 9 Electric Shaver Review

Braun series 9 electric shaver review
Last Updated: 1/3/2017

Let’s take a little nostalgic trip to the 1950’s when Max Braun created Braun’s very first electric shaver. It was originally created in 1938 but because of the aftermath of the Great Depression and the onset of World War II his shaver had to be placed on hold until the early 50’s.

Why do I bring this up? Because if Max Braun could see how far his electric shaver has come in the years since his first model “S-50” he would tap dance on his grave. I’m talking about the new Braun 9090 series 9.

Why BRAUN 9090 SERIES 9 Is Becoming The #1 Shaver of The Year...

Here we have a shaver that doesn’t mind if you have your lazy days and forget to shave for a day or three, that’s because the 9 series welcomes the 3-day-old beard for any challenge it brings.

To top the 3-day beard challenge off, it is also still gentle on your skin making this shaver cutting edge. Its SyncoSonic technology this bad boy has produces 40,000 cross cutting actions per minute—optimal for those with thicker beards—or any hair types.

If you want to use this shaver on your sideburns or moustache just glide your shaver upward and the integrated precision trimmer will do its thing.

Q & A

What’s the difference between the 9 series and the 7 series?

The first obvious reason is the ticket price—Series 9 is expensive. Second, the motor on the 9 is a bit stronger and with that brings a noisier shave—a great shave, though.

  • I have leftover cleaning fluid cartridges leftover from my series 7…can I use them on the 9?

Yes you can!

  • Can I use it in the shower?

I wouldn’t. If you want to shave in the shower I suggest you look at Braun 9095 series 9. The 9095 is a wet/dry model. 9090 is best with a dry shave. The 9090 model’s waterproof but the shower may damage your shaver voiding Braun’s warranty

  • How much battery time do I get?

After a full 60-minute charge you get 50-minutes.

Series 9 is a modern upgrade with it’s contoured grip that is ergonomically correct showcasing an LED display…how can a shaver look so good?

There are four separate components to look at with this shaver. The first is the HyperLift & Cut trimmer that will glide over the chin and neck area (problem spots for flat-lying hairs) and lift and slice those obnoxious hairs.

Next is its Direct & Cut trimmer that takes on the hairs that grow in different directions followed by the OptoFoil, which are split into two components, that will give you the closest shave possible as it tackles even the most difficult stubble. I mean, this foil shaver works sideways kind of like how a rotatory shaver spins this foil moves fast left to right. What the heck, Braun? Pretty cool.

Once you get this baby in your hands and unwrap that packaging you will instantly know that it wasn’t cheaply made (from Germany not China, ha) and really appreciate the ingenuity that was entailed in the design.

Why are you still reading this review — go get that shaver!
